Beauty Sleep

As women we know that a lack of sleep leaves us irritable; however most of us are unaware of the damage it may be doing to our skin? Besides being an essential component of a healthy lifestyle, getting 8 hours of sleep per night helps improve the texture and the luminosity of our skin.

Sleep is a restorative process. While we're sleeping, our brain is cycling through the 3 stages of sleep: light, deep and REM. Sleep restores, rejuvenates and energizes the body and brain. Our immune systems are recharged, cells grow and repair themselves, and our bodies conserve energy.

According to various studies, like the one the National Sleep Foundation performs frequently, even minimal sleep loss has a profoundly detrimental impact on mood, cognition, performance, productivity, communication skills, accident rates and general health status. Thus, it is important for people to know that for optimal functioning throughout the day, the average adult needs between seven to nine hours of sleep during the night.

A healthy and well-balanced diet is an essential key to radiant and youthful skin. If your diet consists of fast-food burgers and greasy pizza, your skin will show it. Purge your body of all of the junk and you will see results in a matter of weeks. There are many ways to cleanse your system and get back on the right track!

The combination of the Sun, pollution, and stress cause ‘Free Radicals’, which wreak havoc on our skin. Free Radicals also cause inflammation of the skin but worse than that they attack our cells, which triggers the break down of collagen in our skin.

Make your bedroom your haven. Oprah is a big believer in this. And she is right. Ban the television and newspapers from the bedroom and never ever have work related items in there. Choose a colour that you find calming and have a few items in that colour around you. Eg: Sheets, cushions, lampshades, paintings and pyjamas.

Eye puffiness is a constant cause of worry for women of today. It makes you look overworked, tired and severely stressed and also greatly decreases your attractiveness. To combat dark circles from forming underneath your eyes, here are simple activities and methods which you can do within the comforts of your own home.

People who worry about their looks too much are often adding to the problem, if indeed there is a problem. Being discontent and worried itself can cause you to look strained and older. Millions automatically reach for one of the magic chemical potions they see advertised on television, or look to the Yellow Pages to book a facelift.

Try to exercise daily, but not within three to four hours of bedtime. Exercise has been shown to increase the amount of deep sleep you get. It can also reduce symptoms PMS in women, which can be uncomfortable enough to disrupt sleep.

Once must get enough sleep. Not everyone require 8 hours sleep, some people will dose off during the day or between when low activities. Some people sleep only 4 hours without broken sleep means wakeup in between and of course no dreaming in the sleep.
